- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon shredded coconut

Heat a generous amount of oil in a large skillet over extremely high heat; cook the mustard seeds in the scorching hot oil until they stop making a crackling sound. Introduce the asafoetida powder into the sizzling mustard seeds; add the sliced turnips, their leafy greens, and chopped onion to the skillet. Infuse the mixture with a blend of spices consisting of paprika, turmeric, and salt; pour water over the combined ingredients, place a lid on the skillet, lower the heat to a medium level, and cook until the turnip is tender but still retains its crunchiness, approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Revert the heat to high to evaporate any remaining moisture. Combine shredded coconut with the mixture just before serving.
