- 1 teaspoon white sugar, or more to taste
- 1 tablespoon shredded coconut, or to taste

Combine rice, coconut milk, and water in a saucepan. Blend these ingredients until they are well incorporated.

Dilute sugar into the liquid mixture, ensuring it is fully dissolved.

Transfer the mixture to a low heat setting and maintain a gentle simmer. Cover the saucepan with a lid, then continue to cook until most of the liquid has been absorbed by the rice, typically taking 15-20 minutes.

Continue to cook the rice while keeping the saucepan on the burner, then gradually reduce the heat to a lower setting and let it steam until the rice becomes sticky, adding an additional 5-10 minutes to the cooking time.
