Ingredients
- 1 pound ground pork sausage
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 6 stalks chopped celery
- 2 onions, chopped
- 2 (1 pound) loaves day-old white bread, torn into small pieces
- 1 1/2 teaspoons sage seasoning mixture
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 cup chicken broth
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the optimal temperature of 325 degrees Fahrenheit (165 degrees Celsius).
2
Next, lightly coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with a thin layer of non-stick cooking spray to prevent the dish from sticking during use.
3
In a large, deep skillet, cook pork sausage over high heat until it is uniformly browned on all sides.
4
Drain the excess fat from the skillet and set the cooked sausage aside for later use.
5
In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Gradually add diced celery and onions to the saucepan; stir constantly until they become tender.
6
Mix all the ingredients, including cooked sausage, celery, onions, bread, dried sage, salt, and pepper, in a large bowl.
7
Add beaten eggs to the mixture and gradually add chicken broth until you achieve the desired consistency - moist but not soggy.
8
Press the prepared stuffing mixture into the greased baking dish.
9
Bake the stuffed dish in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
