Classic Sweet Yeast Bread
Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided, or as needed
Instructions
1
Combine milk and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the mixture reaches a warm temperature to the touch. Next, remove the saucepan from the heat source and gently stir in yeast until it's fully incorporated. Allow the mixture to sit for about 10 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
2
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt using a fork. Then, attach the dough hook to the stand mixer bowl and add softened butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture. Mix everything together until the dough forms a cohesive ball that pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
3
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and continue kneading until it becomes smooth, elastic, and even in texture. This process should take around 10 minutes.
4
Next, grease a large bowl with a small amount of oil and place the dough inside. Give it a gentle turn to coat the dough evenly, then cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a damp cloth. Place the bowl in a warm location and let the dough rise until it has doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.
5
While the dough is rising, prepare a cookie sheet or 9x13-inch pan by greasing it with the remaining oil. Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release any air bubbles and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place them side by side in the prepared pan.
6
Cover the bowl again with plastic wrap or a damp cloth and let the dough rise once more, until it has almost doubled in size. This should take around 20 to 25 minutes.
7
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) while the dough is rising. Once preheated, bake the rolls in the oven until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 20 to 25 minutes.
