Classic Salisbury Steaks
Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/3 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed golden mushroom soup
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can water
Instructions
1
Combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, and onion soup mix in a bowl to create the patty mixture. Form this mixture into 6 elongated shapes resembling patties.
2
Heat a significant amount of oil in a large skillet over an elevated heat setting. Cook these patties until they develop a browned appearance on both sides, taking approximately 5 minutes for each side.
3
Stir the golden mushroom soup with water in a separate bowl to create a sauce. Pour this sauce over the patties in the skillet, ensuring they are fully coated. Rotate the patties to distribute the sauce evenly throughout. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer, lower the heat to a moderate-low setting, place a lid on top of the skillet, and cook until the patties have become very firm, hot, and display a greyish hue in the center, taking 10 to 15 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should display a temperature reading of 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
