Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup dried bread crumbs
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
Instructions
1
Firstly, preheat your oven to the optimal temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or 175 degrees Celsius for those using metric measurements).
2
Next, take a moment to lightly grease the interior of a 9x5-inch loaf pan. This will prevent your meatloaf from sticking and make it easier to remove afterwards.
3
In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef with 1 medium-sized onion that has been finely chopped. Add 1/2 cup of milk, 1/4 cup of bread crumbs, and 1 egg that has been beaten until well mixed. Season the mixture with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.
4
Transfer this meatloaf mixture into the prepared loaf pan, making sure it is evenly distributed and not compacted too tightly.
5
In a separate small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon of mustard until the ingredients are perfectly blended. Pour this sauce over the top of the meatloaf, spreading it evenly to cover every inch of the surface.
6
Finally, place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 1 hour, or until the meatloaf is no longer pink in the center.
