Classic Italian Turkey Meatloaf
Ingredients
  • cooking spray
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 2 cups tomato sauce, divided
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
2
Next, take a baking dish and spray it with cooking spray to prevent the meatloaf from sticking.
3
Meanwhile, combine ground turkey, a beaten egg, bread crumbs, dried Italian seasoning, minced garlic, black pepper, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Use your hands to shape the mixture into a loaf shape and place it inside the prepared baking dish.
4
Place the meatloaf in your preheated oven and bake for 40 minutes.
5
Spoon approximately half of the tomato sauce over the meatloaf and continue baking for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, or until the meatloaf reaches a safe internal temperature.
6
To check for doneness, insert an instant-read thermometer into the center of the meatloaf. If it reads at least 160 degrees Fahrenheit (70 degrees Celsius), it is done.
7
Once the meatloaf has finished cooking, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
8
While the meatloaf is resting, warm up the remaining tomato sauce in a small saucepan over low-medium heat. Serve the warmed tomato sauce alongside your sliced meatloaf.
