Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large yellow onion, chopped
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 3 cups water
- 2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 2 (14.5 ounce) cans diced tomatoes
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons dried Italian herb seasoning
- 1 tablespoon seasoned salt, or to taste
- 3 bay leaves
- 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
Instructions
1
Preheat a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat by heating olive oil within it. Introduce the onion into the pot and cook for 3 minutes, frequently stirring to prevent burning.
2
Next, add ground beef into the pot and cook until it is uniformly browned by breaking up the meat with a spoon, taking approximately 5 minutes.
3
Following this, add minced garlic into the pot and cook for another 3 minutes, stirring constantly to avoid scorching.
4
Now, combine water, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, soy sauce, Italian seasoning, seasoned salt, and bay leaves in the pot. Stir well to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed.
5
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, cover the pot with a lid, and cook for 5 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes to prevent sticking.
6
Subsequently, add uncooked macaroni into the pot and cover it with a lid. Continue to simmer over medium heat until the pasta is tender, taking 11-13 minutes, stirring occasionally.
7
Finally, remove the pot from heat, discard the bay leaves, and serve hot.
