Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons McCormick® Ginger, Ground
- 1 teaspoon McCormick® Cinnamon, Ground
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon McCormick® Nutmeg, Ground
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon McCormick® Pure Vanilla Extract
Instructions
1
Combine dry ingredients - flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt - in a large mixing container.
2
Using an electric mixer, blend butter and brown sugar on medium speed until they become light and airy. Introduce molasses, egg, and vanilla into the mixture, blending everything harmoniously.
3
Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture on low speed until a smooth, cohesive dough forms.
4
Shape the dough into a flat disk and wrap it snugly in plastic coverings. Allow the dough to rest for 4 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
5
Heat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), preparing it for baking.
6
On a lightly dusted surface, roll out the dough to an even thickness of 1/4 inch. Utilize a 5-inch cookie cutter to create gingerbread men shapes.
7
Place the gingerbread men 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets, allowing them to spread slightly during baking.
8
Bake the gingerbread men in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until their edges are set and lightly golden brown.
9
Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for 1 to 2 minutes, before transferring them to wire racks to complete their cooling process.
10
Once the cookies have cooled completely, decorate them as desired. Store the cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
