Classic Fry Bread
Ingredients
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup water
Instructions
1
Preheat the saucepan over medium-high heat to a temperature of 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), ensuring the oil reaches at least a depth of 1 inch.
2
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing container. Gradually add water to the mixture, stirring occasionally until a cohesive dough forms and it no longer sticks to your hands. This process should take around 5 minutes, although you may not need the full amount of water.
3
Divide the dough into small portions, roughly the size of a plum. Roll each portion out into a flat disk shape.
4
Submerge the dough disks in hot oil and cook until they are evenly browned on both sides, approximately 3 minutes. Remove the fried dough from the oil and place it on paper towels or napkins to drain excess oil before serving.
