Next, add the clams, salt, pepper, and onion to the mixture, stirring until well combined. If desired, add the green pepper for extra flavor. Using your hands, shape the mixture into 2-inch diameter patties.

Once hot, carefully place the patties in the skillet and cook until they are golden brown on both sides.
