  • 6 tablespoons water
  • 4 cups milk
  • 5 large ripe bananas, mashed, or more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 (12 ounce) package vanilla wafers

Start by mixing sugar and flour together in a large bowl

Combine egg yolks and water in another bowl, then whisk them vigorously with an electric mixer until they become smooth and airy. Gradually add the sugar mixture to the egg yolk mixture, stirring constantly until everything comes together as a cohesive batter

Pour milk into a saucepan and heat it over medium heat until it reaches boiling point. Add the batter to the milk mixture, stirring constantly as it thickens and comes to a boil, approximately 5 minutes. Take the saucepan off the heat source. Stir in sliced bananas and a few drops of vanilla extract
