Place the saucepan over low heat and allow it to reach a gentle boil, stirring occasionally for 5 minutes. Introduce the essence of vanilla into the mixture and carefully pour it into four individual serving cups that are 1/2 cup in capacity. Allow the mixture to chill in the refrigerator until it has thickened, approximately 1 hour later.
