- 4 cups peeled, cored and sliced apples
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or 175 degrees Celsius for those using metric measurements.

In a medium-sized bowl, mix together flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, ground cinnamon and melted butter until you achieve a crumbly texture. Press half of the oat mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Top the pressed oat mixture with sliced apples, covering them completely.

In a separate medium-sized saucepan, combine granulated sugar, cornstarch and water. Heat the mixture over low-medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens and becomes clear, taking around 10 minutes.

Pour the sugar mixture over the sliced apples. Cover the apples with the remaining oat mixture, ensuring everything is well-coated.
