- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips

Combine sugar, cornstarch, and cocoa powder in a small saucepan over medium heat. Gradually add milk to the mixture, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Continue to cook until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil, approximately 2 minutes.

Remove the saucepan from the heat source; stir in vanilla extract and melted butter until well combined.

Transfer the mixture to a heatproof bowl and refrigerate it until it reaches a cool temperature, roughly 20 minutes.

Stir chocolate chips into the chilled chocolate mixture until they are fully incorporated.
