Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 3/4 cup ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1 cup chickpea flour (besan)
  • 1 cup sugar

Heat the milk and water in a saucepan over low to medium heat; blend the ground cardamom into the liquid mixture. Set it aside temporarily.

Melt the ghee in a shallow skillet over medium heat; combine the chickpea flour with the melted ghee and cook until it becomes aromatic, approximately 10 minutes. Add the sugar to the mixture and stir well to merge it seamlessly. Gradually pour the milk-water mixture into the skillet while stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Continue cooking and stirring until the halwa separates itself from the edges of the pan, taking around 10 to 15 minutes. Serve it hot or spread the mixture onto a rimmed plate and allow it to cool down before cutting into squares for serving.
