Chicken and Broccoli Stir-Fry
Ingredients
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil, or to taste
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 3/4-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
  • 4 medium garlic cloves
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes, or to taste
  • ΒΌ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
1
Gather all the necessary ingredients and equipment before starting to cook.
2
Heat a generous amount of oil in a large, non-stick skillet over an elevated heat setting until it reaches a shimmering state, approximately 2 minutes. Concurrently, combine chicken and one tablespoon of cornstarch in a medium-sized bowl and mix until the chicken is evenly coated.
3
Carefully add the chicken to the skillet in a single, uniform layer and cook, stirring frequently, until it reaches a crispy texture and is fully cooked through, around 6 minutes. Add sliced onions to the skillet and cook, stirring constantly, until they become translucent, roughly 1 minute. Introduce minced ginger and garlic into the skillet and cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant, approximately 1 minute. Transfer the chicken mixture to a plate and set it aside.
4
Add broccoli florets to the empty skillet, and cook over an elevated heat setting, stirring occasionally, until they turn a vibrant green color and are heated through, 2 to 3 minutes.
5
Simultaneously, whisk together water, soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, crushed red pepper, black pepper, and the remaining 2 tablespoons of cornstarch in a small bowl until smooth, approximately 30 seconds.
6
Add the cooked chicken mixture to the broccoli in the skillet; add the soy sauce mixture and cook, stirring constantly, until both the broccoli and chicken are well-coated with the sauce and it thickens, around 2 minutes.
7
Serve the dish immediately and indulge in its delicious flavors!
