Chicago Pan Pizza
Ingredients
  • 1 (1 pound) loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
  • 1 pound bulk Italian sausage
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 8 ounces sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes, drained
  • 3/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon fennel seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
1
Firstly, preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Next, take a portion of the dough and press it firmly into the bottom and sides of a 9x13-inch baking dish that has been greased beforehand.
3
Subsequently, place the sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook it until it is evenly browned, stirring occasionally. Remove the cooked sausage from the skillet with a slotted spoon and sprinkle it over the dough crust.
4
Following that, add the mushrooms and onion to the skillet and cook until the onion is tender. Then, stir in the tomatoes, oregano, salt, fennel seed, and garlic powder. Spoon these ingredients over the sausage.
5
Finally, sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the ingredients in the skillet. Top with Parmesan cheese for added flavor.
6
Bake the dish in the preheated oven until the crust is golden brown, taking approximately 25 to 35 minutes.
