  • 1 cup sweetened red bean paste
  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • 1 teaspoon green tea powder (matcha)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch, for rolling out the dough
Instructions
1
Gather all the necessary ingredients beforehand
2
To prepare the filling, wrap the red bean paste in aluminum foil and place it in the freezer to firm up for at least an hour
3
.
4
In a separate bowl, combine glutinous rice flour and green tea powder to create a uniform mixture
5
.
6
Add water, sugar, and mix until the ingredients are well combined
7
.
8
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and microwave the mixture for 3 minutes 30 seconds
9
.
10
While waiting for the rice flour mixture to cook, take the red bean paste out of the freezer and divide it into 8 equal portions
11
.
12
Remove the cooked rice flour mixture from the microwave, stir, and heat it for an additional 15 to 30 seconds
13
.
14
Prepare a work surface by dusting it with cornstarch and roll out about 2 tablespoons of the hot rice flour mixture into a ball
15
.
16
Flatten the dough and place one frozen red bean paste ball in the center of the dough
17
.
18
Press the dough around the filling to cover it completely, making sure there are no gaps
19
.
20
Sprinkle some additional cornstarch on top of the dough and carefully place a mochi, seam-side down, in a paper muffin liner to prevent sticking
21
.
22
Repeat the process for the remaining mochi balls
23
.
24
Once you've finished making all the mochi, it's time to enjoy your delicious treats
