Preheat the oven to the temperature specified on the cake mix package and bake the cake in a 9x13-inch pan according to the instructions provided on the packaging for one complete cake.

Remove the cake from the oven immediately and use a fork to create small punctures throughout the top layer of the cake, spacing them about 1 inch apart.

As the cake cools down to room temperature, prepare a gelatin-based mixture by dissolving the gelatin in boiling water.
