Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup butter flavored shortening (such as Crisco®)
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
- 1 cup dried tart cherries
- 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1 (12 ounce) bag semi-sweet chocolate chunks (such as SACO®)
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to its highest temperature setting, which is 375 degrees Fahrenheit or 190 degrees Celsius.
2
Next, take some non-stick cooking spray and apply it liberally to your baking sheets.
3
To make the dry ingredients, combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl and set it aside for now.
4
Now, take your butter, shortening, white sugar, and brown sugar, and use an electric mixer to blend them together in a large bowl until you get a smooth consistency.
5
Add your eggs one by one, beating them in thoroughly each time until you have used all of them.
6
Mix in some vanilla and almond extracts, using the last egg to do so.
7
Add your flour mixture back in and just mix it enough to combine everything evenly.
8
Mix in some cherries, walnuts, pecans, and chocolate chunks until they are just combined.
9
Drop rounded spoonfuls of the mixture onto your prepared baking sheets.
10
Bake in your preheated oven for 11 to 13 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned.
11
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
