Ingredients
- 12 ounces egg noodles
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 3 1/2 cups cold milk
- 1 (10 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
- 1/2 cup diced green bell pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon dried tarragon
- 1 cup shredded pepperjack cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 3 cups cubed skinless cooked turkey
- 5 ounces crushed potato chips
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the optimal temperature for baking, which is 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Next, fill a large container with water and add a moderate amount of salt. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, then cook egg noodles in it, stirring occasionally until they are almost fully cooked but still retain some firmness to the bite. This should take around 4 minutes.
3
In a separate large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Gradually whisk in flour and continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture reaches a light golden color. This should take about 3 minutes.
4
Now, pour milk into the butter and flour mixture, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Add cream of mushroom soup, diced red bell pepper, chopped green bell pepper, minced green onions, garam masala, and dried tarragon to the mixture. Stir until everything is well combined.
5
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for 2 minutes, then remove it from heat.
6
Melt pepper Jack cheese in the mixture until it's fully incorporated and smooth. Combine the cheese mixture with ground turkey meat and cooked egg noodles in a large bowl, stirring until everything is evenly distributed.
7
Pour the turkey mixture into a large casserole dish and sprinkle crushed chips on top, pressing them down gently with the tines of a fork to ensure they stick.
8
Bake the casserole in your preheated oven until the top is golden brown and the sauce is bubbling, which should take around 30 minutes.
