Ingredients
- 1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 large egg
- 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon Chinese 5-spice powder
- 1 9-inch unbaked pie crust (see footnote for recipe link)
Instructions
1
Collect all the necessary components for preparation, and preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius).
2
Combine pumpkin puree, egg yolks, and egg in a large mixing container until you achieve a uniform consistency. Introduce sweetened condensed milk, cinnamon, ginger, salt, nutmeg, and Chinese 5-spice powder into the mixture; blend until everything is fully incorporated.
3
Place a pie crust in a 9-inch round baking dish and press the edges to seal them.
4
Pour the filling mixture into the pie crust, gently thwacking it on the countertop to eliminate any air bubbles.
5
Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
6
Decrease the heat to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius) and continue baking until the filling is just set in the middle, requiring an additional 30 to 40 minutes.
7
To verify that the filling is fully cooked, insert a paring knife into it 1 inch from the edge; if it comes out clean, you know it's done.
8
Once the pie is baked to perfection, let it cool completely before serving.
