Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 cup diced carrot
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup diced celery
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 tablespoons melted chicken fat
- 2 quarts roasted chicken broth (see footnote for recipe link)
- 4 ounces uncooked wide egg noodles
- 2 cooked boneless chicken breast halves, cubed
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
1
Heat a substantial soup vessel over medium heat. Melt butter within it, stirring occasionally until fully incorporated. Introduce the following ingredients: a medley of carrots, onions, celery, thyme, and salt. Add chicken fat to the mixture; continue cooking and stirring until the onions become soft and lose their initial opacity, approximately 5 to 6 minutes.
2
Next, incorporate roasted chicken broth into the pot; bring the mixture to a rolling boil. If additional seasoning is required, add salt as needed.
3
Subsequently, introduce egg noodles to the pot; cook until they become tender and palatable, roughly 5 minutes.
4
Add cooked chicken breast meat to the pot; continue simmering until heated through, approximately 5 minutes. Season with cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to taste.
5
Serve the dish hot, relishing in its flavors.
