Ingredients
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- pinch dried thyme
- cayenne pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup plain bread crumbs
- 2/3 cup chopped cooked bacon
- 1 pound ground chuck beef (85% lean)
Instructions
1
Combine egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, brown sugar, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, and cayenne pepper in a bowl using a whisk. Add breadcrumbs and chopped cooked bacon to the mixture, then incorporate ground beef by crumbling it in with your fingers until everything is well combined.
2
Divide the mixture into 4 portions and shape each portion into a burger patty using your hands. Wrap each patty in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 3 hours, allowing it to chill completely.
3
Prepare the grill by preheating it over medium-high heat and lightly brushing the grates with oil. Place the burgers on the grill and cook, turning occasionally, until they reach a firm texture and your desired level of doneness. Use an instant-read thermometer to check the internal temperature, aiming for 145-150 degrees F (63 degrees C). Remove the burgers from heat and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
