Cheesy Taco Salad
Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 envelope taco seasoning mix
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups ranch dressing
  • 1/2 cup Italian-style salad dressing
  • 1 red onion, diced
  • 1 head lettuce, shredded
  • 1 (17 ounce) package nacho-flavor tortilla chips, crushed into bite-size pieces
Instructions
1
Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, fragmenting the meat into smaller pieces as it cooks, until the beef reaches a rich, dark brown color and has a crumbly texture, approximately 10 minutes. Discard any remaining fat that accumulates during cooking and add the taco seasoning blend to the skillet, stirring constantly. Set the skillet aside to allow the mixture to cool and thicken.
2
Combine the cooked ground beef with shredded Cheddar cheese, a generous serving of ranch dressing, a dollop of Italian dressing, and diced red onion in a large salad bowl. Allow the mixture to chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, permitting it to firm up and become more cohesive. Just before serving, gently fold in crisp lettuce leaves and crunchy tortilla chips.
