Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes au Gratin
Ingredients
  • 2 (10.5 ounce) cans cream of mushroom soup, divided
  • 1 cup cooked ham slices, or to taste, divided
  • 6 large russet potatoes, or more to taste, thinly sliced and divided
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced and divided
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Italian cheese blend, or more to taste, divided
  • 1/3 cup milk
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
2
Spread approximately two-thirds of a can of mushroom soup into the base of a 9-inch square baking dish. Arrange half of the sliced ham, one-third of the sliced potatoes, and half of the chopped onion on top of the mushroom soup.
3
Layer another half of the remaining potatoes over the initial layers. Combine the remaining mushroom soup from the first can with milk, and pour this mixture over the potatoes.
4
Finish layering with the remaining ham slices, remaining onion slices, and half of the remaining Italian cheese blend. Top this layer with the remaining potato slices. Spread the second can of mushroom soup over the top layer.
5
Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top of the dish. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil to prevent overcooking.
6
Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 45 minutes.
7
Turn off the heat, replace the aluminum foil on the dish, and let the potatoes cook in the cooling oven until the sauce is absorbed, approximately 30 minutes more.
