Cheesy Oklahoma Grits
Ingredients
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups quick-cooking grits, dry
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 pound processed cheese, cubed
  • 2 teaspoons seasoning salt
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 eggs, beaten
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Next, lightly spray a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking oil to prevent it from sticking.
3
In a medium-sized saucepan, place the water on high heat and bring it to a rolling boil.
4
Add the grits to the boiling water, stirring constantly, and then lower the heat to a low simmer.
5
Cover the saucepan with a lid and let it cook for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring every now and then.
6
Meanwhile, melt the butter in a separate pan over low heat.
7
Add the cheese, seasoning salt, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, and salt to the melted butter.
8
Mix well until all the ingredients are fully incorporated.
9
Continue cooking for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted and smooth.
10
Remove the saucepan from the heat source, let it cool down slightly, and then gently fold in the eggs.
11
Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
12
Bake the dish in a preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the top is lightly browned and golden.
