Ingredients
- cooking spray
- 1 (30 ounce) package frozen shredded hash browns, thawed
- 2 1/2 cups shredded Colby cheese, divided
- 1 (10.5 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
- 8 ounces sour cream
- 2/3 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or 175 degrees Celsius, if you prefer metric measurements).
2
Next, take a 9x13-inch casserole dish and give it a good coating of cooking spray to prevent the dish from sticking.
3
Once you've done that, make sure to drain any excess moisture from the hash browns after they've been thawed.
4
Then, combine the drained hash browns with 2 cups of shredded Colby cheese, soup, sour cream, diced onion, melted butter, beaten egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
5
After that, transfer the mixture to your prepared casserole dish and sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheese evenly over the top.
6
Finally, pop the dish into your preheated oven and bake until the cheese is melted and starts to turn golden brown, taking around 45-55 minutes.
7
Once it's done, garnish with some chopped parsley and serve the dish hot, straight from the oven.
