Ingredients
- 6 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound extra-lean ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 1 (28 ounce) jar pasta sauce
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon dried chives
- 1/8 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg
- 2 cups shredded yellow and white marbled Cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 (8 ounce) package light cream cheese, softened
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the optimal temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
2
Fill a large pot with water and add a moderate amount of salt to create a light brine. Bring the water to a rolling boil and cook lasagna noodles, stirring occasionally until they reach the desired level of doneness, approximately 8 minutes. Remove from heat and gently pat dry with paper towels.
3
In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until it reaches the desired level of brownness, breaking it apart into small pieces as it cooks. Allow this to take about 10 minutes. Add pasta sauce to the skillet and mix in a blend of garlic powder, dried basil, parsley, chives, oregano, and nutmeg.
4
Spread half of the beef sauce mixture into a 2-quart casserole dish and sprinkle with 1 cup of shredded Cheddar cheese.
5
Take a lasagna noodle and lay it flat on a lightly floured surface. Spread 2 tablespoons of cream cheese over the noodle, followed by 2 tablespoons of ground beef sauce. Roll the noodle into a tight cylinder and place it seam-side down in the casserole dish. Repeat this process with the remaining noodles.
6
Cover the noodle rolls with the remaining beef sauce and 1 cup of shredded Cheddar cheese. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake until the cheese and sauce reach a bubbly consistency, taking around 10 to 15 minutes.
