Ingredients
- nonstick cooking spray
- 3 cups thinly sliced, peeled potatoes
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 (10.5 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese, divided
- 1/2 cup milk
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
2
Next, take a can of non-stick cooking spray and give it a good coating to your 9x13-inch casserole dish.
3
Take several large potatoes and place them in a big bowl. Pour some melted butter over the top of the potatoes, then sprinkle with salt to taste. Mix everything together until the potatoes are evenly coated.
4
Take your prepared casserole dish and line it with a layer of potatoes, overlapping them as needed to cover the entire surface.
5
Place your casserole dish in the preheated oven and let it cook for 20 to 30 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender enough to be pierced with a fork.
6
While your potatoes are baking, heat up a large skillet over medium-high heat on your stovetop.
7
Add some ground beef to the hot skillet and cook it, stirring occasionally, until it's browned and crumbly. This should take around 5 to 7 minutes.
8
Drain the excess grease from the skillet and transfer the cooked ground beef to a large bowl.
9
Add some condensed soup, 3/4 cup of shredded Cheddar cheese, and a splash of milk to the bowl with the ground beef. Mix everything together until it's well combined, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
10
Remove your potatoes from the oven and pour the beef mixture over them. Return the casserole dish to the oven and let it cook for another 15 minutes, or until everything is heated through.
11
Finally, sprinkle some remaining Cheddar cheese over the top of your casserole and return it to the oven for a few more minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
