Ingredients
- 2 cups coarsely crushed pretzels
- 3/4 cup margarine, melted
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
- 2 (3 ounce) packages strawberry flavored Jell-O®
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 (10 ounce) packages frozen sweetened strawberries (do not thaw)
Instructions
1
First, preheat your oven to a high temperature of 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 200 degrees Celsius.
2
Then, in a bowl, combine crushed pretzels, melted margarine, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Mix these ingredients together until they are evenly moistened, then press the mixture into the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking pan.
3
Next, bake the crust in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until it is lightly browned. Allow the crust to cool completely.
4
After that, take a bowl and beat together softened cream cheese and the remaining 1 cup of sugar until you have a smooth and fluffy mixture. Then, fold in whipped topping and spread the mixture evenly over the cooled crust.
5
Now, take a bowl and place gelatin in it. Pour boiling water over the gelatin and stir until it is completely dissolved. Add frozen strawberries to the mixture and continue stirring until it begins to thicken.
6
Finally, chill the mixture in the refrigerator until it reaches a semi-firm but still pourable consistency. Once this has happened, pour the mixture over the cream cheese layer and chill it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
