  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar

Preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit (or 150 degrees Celsius, if you prefer). Ensure a 9-inch round cake pan is at the ready.

Using your blender, food processor, or electric mixer, combine eggs, sweetened condensed milk, and a hint of vanilla extract. Blend until the mixture is silky smooth.

In a medium-sized saucepan, cook granulated sugar over low heat, stirring constantly. As the sugar begins to dissolve and turn a light golden brown, remove it from the heat source.

Carefully pour the sugar mixture into your prepared cake pan. Next, combine the egg mixture with the sugar liquid in the cake pan.

To prevent sticking and promote even baking, line a roasting pan with a damp kitchen towel. Place your cake dish inside the roasting pan, and then position the roasting pan on top of an oven rack. Fill the roasting pan with water to a level that reaches halfway up the sides of your cake dish.

Bake for 70 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a knife inserted into the center of your cake comes out clean and free of any doughy residue.

Once done, carefully remove the pan from the water bath and let it cool completely for approximately 1 hour. To release your cake, run a knife along the edge of the pan and carefully invert it onto a serving plate.
