Ingredients
- 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
- 1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
- 1/2 cup minced onion
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons minced fresh parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
- 1 (8 ounce) package manicotti shells
- 2 (26 ounce) jars spaghetti sauce
- 1 1/2 cups water
Instructions
1
Firstly, preheat your oven to a high temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or 175 degrees Celsius for those using metric measurements).
2
Next, combine the ricotta cheese with chopped spinach, finely chopped onion, beaten egg, chopped parsley, a pinch of black pepper, and garlic powder in a large mixing container. Stir until well combined, then add 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese.
3
Subsequently, fill the uncooked manicotti pasta shells with the ricotta mixture. In a separate bowl, whisk together the spaghetti sauce and water until smooth.
4
Spread 1 cup of this sauce mixture over the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish, making sure to cover it evenly. Arrange the stuffed manicotti shells in a single layer on top of the sauce, making sure they don't overlap.
5
Cover the manicotti with the remaining spaghetti sauce mixture and sprinkle with the remaining 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese.
6
Finally, bake the assembled dish in the preheated oven for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the pasta shells are tender yet still firm to the bite.
