Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 refrigerated 9-inch pie crusts, divided
- 5 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
Instructions
1
Begin by preheating your oven to a high temperature of 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2
Next, place a generous amount of butter into a large cast-iron skillet and put it in the oven while it's preheating, allowing it to melt completely. This should take around 5 minutes.
3
Then, stir in some brown sugar into the melted butter until well combined. Return the skillet to the oven and let it cook for another 5 minutes, or until it starts to bubble.
4
Now, carefully place a single pie crust on top of the brown sugar mixture without pressing down too hard. Arrange your sliced apples in a neat layer on top of the crust.
5
In a separate bowl, mix together some white sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the apple slices.
6
Place the remaining pie crust on top of the apples, making sure not to press down too hard. Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.
7
Finally, seal the top and bottom crusts together by pressing them gently. Place your pie in the preheated oven and let it bake for about 45 minutes, or until the top crust is lightly browned.
