- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 onions, chopped
- 3 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 red bell peppers, chopped
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 pinch red pepper flakes
- 6 leaves lettuce
- 1 avocado - peeled, pitted and sliced

To eliminate excess salt from the fish, immerse the fish in boiling water within a large container. Discard the used water and repeat the process until the desired level of saltiness is achieved. Remove the fish from the liquid, flake it into smaller pieces, and gently squeeze out any remaining moisture.

In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat before adding sliced onions, diced tomatoes, and chopped peppers. Cook these ingredients for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Next, add the flaked saltfish, lemon juice, and diced hot pepper to the skillet. Continue cooking the mixture at a low heat setting until almost all moisture has evaporated.

Spoon the cooked mixture into the center of a serving dish, and arrange crisp lettuce leaves and sliced avocado around it.
