Ingredients
- 5 hulled strawberries
- 5 seedless grapes
- 5 clementine segments
- 5 12-inch wooden skewers
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
Instructions
1
Prepare a large baking sheet by covering it with paper towels to prevent any accidents. Next, gently pat the fruit dry using a clean cloth or towel to remove excess moisture.
2
Now, divide the prepared fruit among wooden skewers, ensuring each skewer has exactly 3 pieces of fruit. Arrange the fruits in a way that they cover the end of the skewer and are touching each other.
3
In a small, shallow saucepan, combine sugar, water, and corn syrup. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring it to a boil without disturbing it for a while.
4
Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and let it cook undisturbed until a candy thermometer registers 300 degrees F (150 degrees C), which may take around 18 to 20 minutes.
5
Meanwhile, prepare an ice bath by filling a container with cold water and placing it nearby. This will be used to cool the sugar mixture quickly.
6
Remove the saucepan from heat and let it stand for 1 to 2 minutes, allowing any bubbles to subside. Carefully tilt the saucepan so that the sugar mixture pools to one side.
7
Work quickly and carefully place the fruit end of one skewer in the sugar mixture, rotating it to fully coat the fruit. Allow any excess syrup to drip back into the pan.
8
Place the dipped skewer, with its fruit side down, in the ice bath to cool fully, about 1 minute. Then, carefully place it back into a heavy cup or saucepan with the fruit side up.
9
Repeat this process with the remaining skewers and sugar mixture, working as quickly as possible. Finally, using kitchen scissors, trim any excess sugar drips to serve the skewers immediately.
