Ingredients
- cooking spray
- 1 cup Italian-style bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Romano cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
- 1/2 cup minced onion
- 1/4 cup Cabernet Sauvignon
- 2 eggs
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound ground turkey breast
- 1 pound ground Italian-flavored turkey sausage
- 4 cups spaghetti sauce
Instructions
1
Firstly, preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit or 190 degrees Celsius. Next, take a sheet pan and give it a light coating of cooking spray to prevent sticking.
2
In a separate bowl, combine the bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, Romano cheese, parsley, basil, oregano, and Cajun seasoning. Mix these ingredients together until the herbs are evenly distributed throughout.
3
In a second bowl, combine the minced onion, Cabernet Sauvignon, eggs, and garlic. Mix these ingredients together until they are well combined.
4
Then, in a large bowl, combine the ground turkey and ground sausage. Mix these ingredients together until they are well combined.
5
Add the cheese mixture and onion mixture to the ground turkey and sausage mixture. Mix everything together until all the ingredients are well combined.
6
Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on the prepared sheet pan.
7
Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven until they are no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, which should take about 20 minutes. To check if they are cooked, insert an instant-read thermometer into the center and it should read at least 160 degrees Fahrenheit or 71 degrees Celsius.
8
Once the meatballs are cooked, place them in a large saucepan with spaghetti sauce. Stir the meatballs into the sauce until they are coated, then bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for 5 to 10 minutes until the sauce is warmed through.
