Ingredients
- 2 Vidalia onions
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cube beef bouillon, crumbled, or more to taste
- 2 pinches ground paprika
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the highest temperature setting, which is 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 200 degrees Celsius.
2
Carefully remove the onions from their packaging and peel them using a vegetable peeler. Trim off any damaged or discolored ends.
3
Place each peeled onion on a large sheet of aluminum foil, making sure to cover the entire surface.
4
Using a sharp knife, carefully slice each onion into thin pieces, cutting from top to bottom about three-quarters of the way down towards the bottom. Be cautious not to cut all the way through.
5
Sprinkle half of the crumbled bouillon cube over each onion, followed by a tablespoon of butter on top. Add a pinch of paprika, salt, and pepper to enhance the flavor.
6
Fold the aluminum foil over each onion, forming a tight pouch that will help retain heat and moisture.
7
Place the foil-wrapped onions in the preheated oven and roast to your desired level of tenderness, which can take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes.
8
When you're ready to serve, carefully remove the onions from their foil pouches as steam will be extremely hot. Drizzle any remaining cooking liquid over the onions to add extra flavor and moisture.
