Preheat your oven to a temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).

Position the halved acorn squash, cut-side facing downwards, onto a baking sheet. Subject to heat in the preheated oven until the flesh becomes tender and softens, approximately 30 to 45 minutes.

Retire the squash from the oven and relocate one of the halves, cut-side facing upwards, to a deep baking dish. Distribute butter and brown sugar into the hollow cavity. Place the remaining squash half, cut-side facing downwards, atop to seal the dish.

Return the baking dish to the oven and continue to bake until the flesh is tender, approximately 30 minutes.
