Butternut Squash Mash
Ingredients
  • 1 butternut squash, halved lengthwise and seeded
  • 1/4 cup butter, divided
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, divided
  • 1/8 teaspoon apple pie spice
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the ideal temperature for baking, which is 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Next, take a moment to prepare your baking sheet by coating it with a thin layer of grease. This will ensure that the squash releases easily once it's cooked.
3
Now, place the squash halves on the prepared baking sheet, with their cut sides facing upwards.
4
Add a small amount of butter and brown sugar to the cavity of each squash half, making sure they're evenly distributed.
5
Place the squash halves in the oven and bake for approximately one hour, or until the skin is crispy and the flesh has reached your desired level of tenderness.
6
Once the squash is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. This will make it easier to handle.
7
Take the cooked squash flesh and transfer it to a large bowl.
8
Add any remaining butter, brown sugar, and apple pie spice to the bowl with the squash flesh.
9
Using an electric mixer on medium speed, whip the squash mixture until it becomes light and fluffy.
