Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 1/2 cups sugar
- 5 eggs
- 2 tablespoons butternut flavored extract
- 1 (5 ounce) can evaporated milk
- 3 fluid ounces milk
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven by setting the temperature to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
2
Prepare a 10 inch tube pan by coating it with a generous amount of grease and then dusting it evenly with flour.
3
Separate the dry ingredients by mixing together the flour and salt in a bowl, then set them aside for later use.
4
Combine two types of milk - evaporated and whole - in a separate bowl, stirring until well combined.
5
In a large mixing vessel, use an electric mixer to cream together the butter, shortening, and sugar until they reach a light and fluffy consistency.
6
One at a time, add the eggs to the mixing vessel, beating them into the mixture until fully incorporated.
7
Next, stir in the butternut flavoring to give the cake its distinctive taste.
8
Alternate adding the flour mixture and milk to the mixing vessel, gently folding them into the batter until just combined.
9
Pour the cake batter into the prepared tube pan, making sure to fill it evenly.
10
Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour and 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
11
Once done, allow the cake to cool completely before serving.
