Ingredients
- cooking spray
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 large yellow onion, chopped
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 (16 ounce) can refried beans
- 1 (1 ounce) package burrito seasoning
- 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 4 ounces sour cream
- 1 (14.5 ounce) package tortilla chips
- 2 1/2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
- 1 (8 ounce) jar salsa
Instructions
1
Collect all necessary ingredients beforehand.
2
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
3
Spray a casserole dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
4
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
5
Cook and stir the onion in hot oil until it becomes translucent, taking about 3 to 5 minutes.
6
Add the beef and increase heat to medium-high.
7
Cook and stir until the beef is browned and crumbly, requiring about 5 to 7 minutes.
8
Discard the excess grease.
9
Combine refried beans and burrito seasoning in a large bowl; then add this mixture to the beef.
10
Mix until both ingredients are well combined.
11
In a separate bowl, combine condensed soup and sour cream.
12
Mix until smooth.
13
Place a layer of tortilla chips into the prepared casserole dish, just covering the bottom.
14
Follow this with half of the meat mixture, half of the soup mixture, one cup of cheese, and half of the salsa.
15
Repeat this layering process once more, then top with the remaining cheese.
16
Bake in the preheated oven, uncovered, until hot and bubbly, taking about 20 to 30 minutes.
