Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 5 large Rome Beauty apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, which is equivalent to 175 degrees Celsius. Next, take a 10 inch tube pan and lightly grease it with butter or cooking spray before dusting it with flour to prevent the cake from sticking.
2
Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, combine 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, a pinch of warm cinnamon, and sliced apples. Set this mixture aside for the time being.
3
To make the cake batter, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, a pinch of salt, and 1 teaspoon of baking powder in another bowl. In a separate container, whisk together 2 eggs and an additional 3/4 cup of sugar until they become light and fluffy.
4
Now, slowly pour in the flour mixture into the egg mixture, alternating with a neutral oil until you achieve a smooth consistency. Next, add in 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed orange juice and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until well combined.
5
Pour half of the cake batter into a greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Following this, layer half of the apple mixture on top of the batter. Then, pour the remaining cake batter over the apples and finish by topping with the rest of the apple mixture.
6
Place the tube pan in a preheated oven and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, which should take around 1 hour and 30 minutes to 1 hour and 45 minutes.
7
Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
