Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 very ripe bananas
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
1
Heat butter in a small saucepan over medium heat until it reaches a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to a low simmer and cook for 5-10 minutes or until it develops a rich, nutty aroma and turns golden brown. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature for 15 minutes, allowing the butter to solidify.
2
Set aside a portion of the browned butter for later use, reserving 1/3 cup. Transfer the remaining browned butter to a separate container for future use.
3
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Grease a standard-sized loaf pan.
4
In a large mixing bowl, mash ripe bananas with a fork until they're smooth. Combine the mashed bananas with brown sugar, granulated sugar, an egg, and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir in 1/3 cup of the browned butter until well combined.
5
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg until the ingredients are well incorporated. Gently fold the flour mixture into the banana mixture just until all the ingredients are moistened. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
6
Bake the banana bread in a preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
