Bread Machine Stuffed Calzone
Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon powdered milk
  • 3/4 cup sliced Italian sausage
  • 3/4 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
Instructions
1
To prepare the dough mixture, combine water, yeast, sugar, flour, salt, and powdered milk in a bread machine pan. Adhere to the manufacturer's recommended sequence for ingredient placement. Activate the Dough cycle, allowing the machine to complete its process.
2
Subsequently, unroll the dough on a lightly dusted surface.
3
Concurrently, cook sausage in a large skillet over medium heat for approximately 8 to 10 minutes. Discard any excess fat and reserve the cooked sausage.
4
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
5
Shape the dough into a rectangular form measuring 16x10 inches. Transfer it to a lightly oiled cookie sheet and spread pizza sauce lengthwise along the center of the dough, followed by the cooked sausage and cheese. Make diagonal cuts 1 1/2 inches apart along each long side of the dough rectangle, cutting to within 1/2 inch of the filling. Weave strips of dough over the filling and seal the edges with water. Brush the top surface of the calzone with melted butter.
6
Bake in your oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius) for 35 to 45 minutes, or until it reaches a golden brown color. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving
