Braised Pot Roast
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 3 1/2 pounds rump roast
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup dry vermouth
  • 1/2 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
Instructions
1
Acquire the necessary ingredients and prepare your oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
2
Combine flour and black pepper in a large mixing container. Coat the rump roast evenly with seasoned flour, making sure to cover it completely. Discard any remaining flour.
3
Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. Brown the roast on all sides until it reaches a golden brown color. Transfer the roast to a 4-quart casserole dish with a lid.
4
In a small bowl, whisk together the condensed soup, vermouth, and soup mix until well combined. Pour this mixture over the roast in the casserole dish.
5
Cover the casserole dish and bake it in the preheated oven until the roast reaches your desired level of doneness, approximately 3 hours. Use a food thermometer to check the internal temperature; it should read at least 145 degrees F (63 degrees C) for medium doneness.
