Ingredients
- 1 cup distilled white vinegar
- 1 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 3 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon fresh-ground black pepper
- 2 1/2 pounds lean pork, cut into 1 inch cubes
- 1 pound small green beans, trimmed
Instructions
1
Combine all the ingredients - vinegar, soy sauce, ketchup, garlic, and bay leaves - in a large saucepan. Introduce the cubed pork into the mixture and set the heat to its highest level. Bring the contents to a rolling boil, then gradually decrease the intensity of the heat to a lower setting. Cover the saucepan and allow the pork to become tender, requiring approximately 2 1/2 hours of continuous cooking. Periodically stir the contents to maintain evenness. If you are using green beans, add them towards the end of this prolonged cooking period, specifically within the final 30 minutes.
