Bob's Slow-Cooked Braciole
Ingredients
  • 2 (26 ounce) jars marinara sauce
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1 (1 1/2-pound) flank steak, pounded to 1/4 inch
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ground black pepper
  • 5 slices bacon
  • 1 cup shredded Italian cheese blend
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
1
Begin by placing the marinara sauce into the slow cooker and setting it to High heat to get warmed up.
2
In a small bowl, mix eggs with bread crumbs. Sprinkle both sides of the flank steak with salt and pepper before applying a layer of bread crumb mixture, leaving about 1 inch of space around the edges. Place a few strips of bacon on top of the bread crumbs, followed by some shredded cheese. Roll the flank steak into a tight log shape, starting from one end and working your way across, securing it with string or toothpicks at 4 or 5 points.
3
Heat some oil in a large skillet over high heat. Sear the prepared flank steak log until it's nicely browned on all sides, taking about 10 minutes; transfer the steak to the warm marinara sauce in the slow cooker and spoon some of the sauce over it to cover.
4
Set the slow cooker to Low heat; cook the steak log until it's extremely tender, taking around 6 to 8 hours. Remove any string or toothpicks before slicing the steak and serving it with marinara sauce.
