Blueberry Hand Pies
Ingredients
  • 2 pie crust pastries
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup turbinado sugar (such as Sugar in the Raw®)
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 425 degrees Fahrenheit or 220 degrees Celsius.
2
Spread the pie crust pastry on a flat surface and use a round cutter with a diameter of 5 inches to cut out circles from the dough.
3
Place one tablespoon of blueberries in the center of each circle; sprinkle a pinch, approximately 1/4 teaspoon, of sugar over the blueberries.
4
Add a light dusting of cinnamon to the blueberries for extra flavor.
5
Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges together with a fork to seal them securely.
6
Arrange the hand pies on a baking sheet in a single layer.
7
Brighten up your hand pies by brushing the tops with a beaten egg and sprinkling turbinado sugar over them.
8
Place the hand pies in the preheated oven and bake until they are golden brown, taking around 18 to 20 minutes.
